Welcome to this journey.

In this course, we are focusing on your role as a parent or an educator on how you can support your teenagers with exam anxiety, their emotional regulation and empowering them with practical strategies to navigate this stressful time.

Naturally, exam time brings with it a rise in stress levels and the challenge to perform as best we can. However, when exam time becomes a source of dread that can negatively impact our well being and our academic performance we need to rethink the current strategies we are using. As parents and educators, we want to support our teenagers navigate this stressful time. Our teenagers tend to put a significant amount of pressure on themselves and focus more on the outcome rather than the process during exam time. Equipping them with practical strategies, helping them to keep realistic expectations and shifting their focus back to the process is key to maintaining their well being and increasing performance.

By fully engaging in my course, I will help you to become more confident as a parent or educator in supporting your teenagers before, during and after exam time and managing the associated anxiety and stress that comes with this exam time. In this introduction module, you will get to know about me, my course, the learning outcomes and it potential benefits to you and your teenagers when you engage fully with the material and experiential activities.

In this module we will be looking at an overview of exam time which brings increased demands on our young people.

We will look at some research and statistics, some of the main causes of anxiety and how it might present in our young people.

In this module we will look at practical supports at home that you can implement straight away or enhance if you are already doing some of these.

In this module we will look at improving emotional regulation and providing emotional encouragement that is genuine and thoughtful.
